The California Department of Social Services, Legal Division, is recruiting to fill one permanent full-time Senior Legal Typist position in our Sacramento Headquarters office.
We have flexible schedules in a hybrid (remote / telework and in-office) work environment.
The Senior Legal Typist provides clerical support to four or more attorneys and paralegals.
Duties include typing, proofreading, and serving a variety of legal pleadings and documents.
The Senior Legal Typist also prepares correspondence, policy memos, processes and tracks executive level control correspondence, schedules hearings, sets up and maintains files, answers telephones, and performs photocopying and faxing duties.
The Senior Legal Typist works independently as well as in a team environment with other Senior Legal Typists and Legal Secretaries, under the supervision of a Legal Support Supervisor I.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SENIOR LEGAL TYPIST Either I Experience: One year of experience in typing and clerical work, at least six months of which shall have been in work of a legal nature requiring the preparation of legal correspondence, petitions, briefs, motions, depositions, and various legal notices and forms.
Academic education above the twelfth grade may be substituted for six months of the required general experience on the basis of either one year of general education being equivalent to three months of general experience, or one year of education of a business or commercial nature being equivalent to six months of general experience.
Or II Completion of a certified legal secretarial program at either a regionally accredited college or business school approved by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocation Education and accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools may be substituted for all of the required general and legal experience.
