Job Description and Duties
As a member of a legal support team, the Legal Support Technician utilizes various modern office equipment and performs a variety of duties to support the legal staff in the Office of the Attorney General.
The duties include but are not limited to: answer telephones, process and coordinate Revolving Fund checks, collection advices, payroll and travel claim checks, process incoming faxes, Transit Pass purchasing in accordance with Accounting and State Administrative Manual procedures; maintain transaction logs, reconcile cash balances, conduct audits and prepare management reports as required; handle maintenance requests; photocopying and assembling large voluminous documents, bate stamping, indexing and closing case files by preparing labels and slips for delivery to the Docketing Unit.
The Legal Support Technician may occasionally be called upon to answer telephones for the Executive Office; uses various computer software to proficiently type, edit, store, retrieve, print, process and fax documents and correspondence using modern office methods and procedures as required.
They will independently and with initiative, complete correspondence and other non-legal documents pertaining to court proceedings which are often of a confidential nature, including providing support to legal teams consisting of attorneys, paralegals and secretarial staff; assist legal secretaries in preparing documents in accordance to Prolaw for court filing by preparing exhibit tabs, Bates numbering, and indexing of complex cases, photocopying and faxing documents, including electronic; and assist with preparing envelopes, labels, and messenger service slips for service of documents.
